Attention runners, walkers, bikers, and outdoor enthusiasts, Mesa del Sol is developing a natural surface trail system just for you.
This dynamic trail system will transport you into the natural environment with a “close to home” recreational opportunity.
Currently, the Perspective Trail is the only trail at Mesa del Sol with events like the Girls on the Run 5K taking full advantage of the space. The Perspectives Trail can be accessed via the Aperture Center trailhead behind the Aperture Center of Mesa del Sol. Download the trail map here.
Reineke Construction is teamed with the Mesa del Sol leadership to create the community’s trail system. Reineke Construction specializes in trail design, construction, maintenance; trailhead facility improvements, campground construction, water management, erosion control and much more. Company founders Margie Tatro and Mark Reineke have 50 years combined experience in executive leadership, management, research, trail design and construction experience.
“We’re a good fit for the Mesa del Sol project because we focus on outdoor trail construction,” Tatro said. “We really want to get people to the interesting places and experience the natural beauty of the features of the land with our design.”
The trail system design for Mesa del Sol encompasses plans for the following trails in addition to the Perspectives Trail:
- Livelihoods Trail
- Taylor Trail
- Valley View Trail
- Inspiration Trail
- Playa Trail
- La Semilla Loop
“The entire concept plan includes about 30 miles all together,” Tatro said. “We were inspired by the vision of being able to step out your backdoor and be in nature within a matter of minutes.”
The trail design is an evolving process with input from a trail committee comprised of residents, employees, and Reineke Construction. Feedback from trail users is an important part of the trail evolution process.
