Maybe we should call it Mesa del Solar.

Most of the commercial facilities that have been built in Mesa del Sol are LEED®-certified. In fact two of them achieved LEED Gold certification. Mesa del Sol is the first planned community in New Mexico where all homes will be built and performance-tested both to the Energy Star® 3.0 and to the Build Green NM Silver standards. And solar power will be an option on many of the homes here.

We're also taking a role in the future of energy efficiency and renewable technology. Mesa Del Sol just became home to the first solar storage facility in the United States. The facility is connected to PNM's power grid and has the capacity to power up to 200 homes at any given time.

You may also have noticed that the community has been attracting the attention of the entire solar power industry. One of the largest solar companies in the world, SCHOTT Solar, is located here. It only makes sense. This is, after all, Mesa del Sol.

What is LEED®?

LEED Silver
The U.S. Green Building Council developed the Leadership in Energy Efficient Design (or LEED) system to encourage sustainable building.

A building that is LEED-certified has been designed and performance-tested to adhere to a high standard of energy efficiency, water conservation, indoor air quality and materials re-use and recycling.

Depending on how well a building performs, it may receive one of four certification levels: Certified; Silver; Gold; or the highest award, Platinum.
