Mesa del Sol welcomes the new Residential Development Director, Karl Smith to the team. Smith replaces David Newell who recently accepted a position as Division President for RayLee Homes. Smith’s background comes from his most recent work as administrative manager for Albuquerque’s Golden Equipment Co. and for more than five years worked as a project manager for TS McNaney & Associates, a company that did residential developments and entitlement work.
“It’s been a great transition and everyone has been very welcoming here at Mesa del Sol,” Smith said. “I’m looking forward to the future and helping develop and expand the project.”
In light of the new staff addition, another important change has taken place; Forest City Enterprises has promoted Manny Barrera from director of engineering to director of development. Barrera has been part of the nucleus team of Mesa del Sol since its’ conception in 2006. Barrera carries many of the responsibilities that former president Michael Daly had before for a accepting a new position with New York-based Jonathan Rose Cos.
Together, Barrera and Smith will champion the responsibilities encompassed within the 13,000-acre project including the recruitment of new companies and the oversight of existing commercial activity.
“Mesa del Sol is the perfect place for data center growth opportunities, cyber security expansion, and companies, alike,” Barrera said. “For us to put together a blend of commercial growth, while building a community that reflects the culture of Albuquerque is a unique opportunity that I’m happy to be apart of.”
