saving water is just the beginning |
|
From our earliest planning stages, we’ve envisioned Mesa del Sol as a place that epitomizes sustainable development. In its conservation of water, energy and other natural resources. In its use of alternative energy sources. In its recycling programs. Mesa del Sol will be one of the largest communities in the country where every home is Energy Star®-rated for optimal energy efficiency. We’re even working to make it one of the first communities that will benefit from emerging “clean technologies” — many of which are being created right here in New Mexico.
But to be a truly sustainable development, Mesa del Sol must also contribute to Albuquerque’s ongoing social and economic health. That’s why we’ve put so much emphasis on economic development and job creation. It’s why we’ve made education an integral part of the plan here. And it’s why we’ve designed the whole place not only to accommodate a wide variety of people, but to bring them together at parks, on trails and in the Town Centers that will be sprinkled throughout Mesa del Sol.
When you get right down to it, sustainability is at the heart of everything we’re doing here, big and small. From the open space to the architecture to the way we’re limiting “light pollution” so you can see stars at night rather than an orange glow. At Mesa del Sol, sustainability means sustaining a really good life for people today and long into the future.
